Abstract
1,054,328. Organic isocyanates. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Oct. 7, 1964 [Oct. 28, 1963], No. 42392/63. Heading C2C. Organic isocyanates are prepared by mixing a primary amine with phosgene in a ketonic solvent at a temperature up to 50‹ C.: at least 1À5 moles of phosgene per amine group are used and the phosgenation is completed at below 100‹ C. The preparation of 2,4/2,6-tolylenediisocyanate, using methyl isobutyl ketone as solvent, is exemplified.
