Abstract

1,051,081. Spinning composite yarns. MONSANTO CO. March 25, 1965 [March 26, 1964], No. 12723/65. Headings D1D, D1F and D1W. A balanced, single cover, elastic core yarn is made by withdrawing an elastomeric, e.g. rubber or segmented polyurethane, (yarn) strand 10 and an inelastic, e.g. cotton, nylon, rayon, polyacrylonitrile, cover thread 12 without twisting from rotating bobbins 24 and 26 via flyers 28 and 34; stretching the strand 10 in its passage through a tubular spindle 22 (coaxial with spindle 18) by means of adjustably driven star wheels 16 and 20; helically and uniformly wrapping the thread 12 around strand 10 and taking-up a partially relaxed composite yarn 14 on a roll 32.
