[Also in Division A4] A receptacle is made by treating the bottom face of a glass cup with HF, applying adhesive in the form of a monomer to the upper face of a base member, placing the bottom of the cup and the upper face of the base in contact, and polymerizing the monomer in the cold while pressure is applied. The base may be of, e.g. artificial resin, metal, wood or glass. The adhesive may be, e.g. water-insoluble thermoplastic resin or thermosetting resin, or a mixture thereof. The cup may have a stud registering with a recess in the base.
