Abstract

1,050,971. Controlling parachutes. VEREINGUNG VOLKSEIGENER BETRIEBE KONFEKTION. June 5, 1963, No. 22354/63. Heading B7G. A parachute has a main control opening 3 in the canopy, a tunnel 4 over the opening 3 and a strap 5 to prevent the opening 3 from widening and the tunnel from flattening. The canopy becomes cylindrical at 7 near its base, and may have auxiliary control openings 8 which may also have tunnels over them. Control lines 9, 12 are connected to rigging lines at the edges of the openings, for directional control. Each gore preferably consists of five panels (Fig. 1, not shown).
