Abstract

1,050,177. Basic nicotinic acid esters. KREWEL-LEUFFEN G.m.b.H. Aug. 4, 1964 [July 18, 1963], No. 30558/64. Heading C2C. Basic nicotinic acid esters of the general formula where R 1 and R 2 are alkyl, aralkyl, or aryl residues and B is a dialkylamino residue or a saturated N-heterocyclic ring attached by the nitrogen atom are made by the reaction of nicotinic acid chloride with the corresponding 1,3-amino-alcohol, or the alkali metal, alkoxide thereof, in an inert solvent or in a medium of water and a water-immiscible solvent, preferably in the presence of alkalis or tertiary organic bases. The preferred R 1 , R 2 groupings are methyl-propyl, ethyl-ethyl, ethyl-benzyl and ethyl-phenyl, and B is preferably dimethyl or diethyl amino, piperidino or pyrrolidino. The examples describe the syntheses of the compounds wherein R 1 , R 2 and B are as follows: Et, Et, -NEt 2 ; Ph, Et, piperidino; Et, Et, pyrrolidino; Ph, Et, pyrollidino. The compounds are stated to have cardio-vascular and neuro-pharmacological action.
