1,046,189. Belt fastenings. THOMAS BLACKBURN (BRIGHOUSE) Ltd. Sept. 30, 1965 [Oct. 2, 1964], No. 40105/64. Heading F2Q. In a method of joining the ends of a spindle tape or driving band, the ends of the tape are inserted into a sleeve 3 and adhered thereto by a plastics material applied to the tape ends and/or sleeve 3. Preferably the ends of the tape are pre-treated with plastic material before insertion into the sleeve 3 and the joint effected between heated plates. The plastic material may be nylon and the sleeve 3 may be made of this material or coated with it. As shown in Fig. 1, warp threads have been removed from woven fabric tape ends in the vicinity of the joint. Alternatively, the tape ends may be tapered or tongued.
