Abstract

A carton for accommodating a bottle (B), comprises a bottom panel (16) having an aperture for receiving the bottle and a retaining tab (40, 46) formed from material taken from the bottom panel to form the aperture. The retaining tab is folded out of the plane of the bottom panel and engaged with a bottle present in that aperture. A further retaining member (60) is hinged to a second panel (12) spaced from the bottom panel. The retaining tab and the further retaining member have complementary locking means (52, 62) which co-operate to hold the retaining tab in engagement with the container to enhance the rigidity of the carton.
