The present invention relates to a food supplement comprising plant extracts, essential oils and vitamins.
This food supplement comes in the form of gums or any other dosage forms that can be used orally to treat or relieve symptoms related to stress, anxiety and nervousness.

Background of the state of the art

For many years, the pharmaceutical industry has been looking for food supplements, generally of synthetic origin, to treat or relieve symptoms linked to stress and nervousness.
Such synthetic compositions cause undesirable side effects.

Object of the invention

The present invention aims to solve these problems. To this end, the inventors began research to develop compositions to treat said health problems, based on ingredients of purely natural origin.

Brief description of the invention

The invention relates to a food supplement characterized in that it comprises plant extracts, essential oils and vitamins.
Preferably, the food supplement does not contain sugars.
More preferably, the food supplement comprises:
(a) as plant extracts:
- a dry extract of Rhodiola root, and/or
- a dry extract of Poppy petals, and/or
- a dry extract of Ginseng roots, and/or
(b) as essential oils:
- a green mandarin essential oil, and/or
- an essential oil of Marjoram with shells, and/or
c) as vitamins:
- vitamin B3, and/or
- vitamin B12.
According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the food supplement comprises each of the ingredients listed above.

This food supplement is of purely natural origin. In addition it includes a combination of three plant extracts, two essential oils and two types of vitamins.

According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the composition is in the form of gums or any other dosage forms which can be used orally.
This food supplement, particularly in the form of gum that can be used orally, is used to treat or relieve symptoms related to stress and nervousness.

The invention, as well as its preferred modes of application, are described in the appended dependent claims.

The present invention relates to a food supplement containing three types of ingredients:

1. plant extracts;
2. essential oils;
3. vitamins.

Preferably, said supplement does not contain sugars.
More in particular, the supplement according to the invention is characterized in that:
a) plant extracts include:
- a dry extract of Rhodiola root, and/or
- a dry extract of Poppy petals, and/or
- a dry extract of Ginseng roots, and/or
b) essential oils include:
- a green mandarin essential oil, and/or
- an essential oil of Marjoram with shells, and/or
c) vitamins include:
- vitamin B3, and/or
- vitamin B12.
According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the supplement comprises each of the ingredients cited above.
According to a more preferred embodiment of the invention, the supplement according to the invention further comprises one or more of the following ingredients:

- a loading agent;
- a sweetening agent;
- a gelling agent;
- an acidifying agent;
- a coating agent;
- natural flavors.

According to a preferred mode of the invention, the food supplement comprises:
- maltitol as a bulking agent and/or sweetener, and/or
- pectin as a gelling agent, and/or
- citric acid and/or sodium citrate as acidifying agent, and/or
-Carnauba wax as a coating agent.

According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the food supplement comprises the following ingredients in the quantities indicated:
- from 0.01 to 10%, preferably between 0.01% to 5%, Rhodiola extract;

- from 0.01 to 10%, preferably between 0.01% to 5%, Poppy extract;

- from 0.01 to 10%, preferably between 0.01% to 5%, Ginseng extract;

- from 0.01 to 10%, preferably between 0.01% to 5%, the essential oil of
Green tangerine;

- from 0.01 to 10%, preferably between 0.01% to 5%, the essential oil of
Marjoram with shells;

- from 0.01 to 5%, preferably between 0.01% to 1%, vitamin B3;
- from 0.01 to 5%, preferably between 0.01 to 1%, vitamin B12;

Then, according to a preferred mode of the invention, in the food supplement:
- the plant extracts represent between 0.1 and 10%, preferably between 0.5 and 2% by weight of the composition, and
- the essential oils represent between 0.01 and 2%, preferably between 0.01 and 0.5% by weight of the composition, and
- the vitamins represent between 0.01 and 2%, preferably between 0.01 and 0.1% by weight of the composition.

Also, according to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the food supplement comprises:
- maltitol as bulking agent and as sweetening agent, and/or
- pectin as a gelling agent, and/or
- citric acid and/or sodium citrate as acidifying agent, and/or
-Carnauba wax as a coating agent.

• a coating agent (for example Carnauba wax): between 0.1 and 10%;
• natural flavors: between 0.1 and 10%.
  

Use of the food supplement :
The food supplement according to the invention is presented in a form suitable for oral administration.

Preferably it is in the form of a tablet, a capsule, a gum or any other dosage form which can be used orally.
More preferably, it comes in the form of gums.
These gummies, representing a practical and fun format for consumption, use pectin as a structuring agent, in English they are called “gummies”.
The food supplement according to the invention serves to treat or relieve symptoms related to stress, anxiety and nervousness.

The supplement according to the invention can be used for this purpose.

Also, the supplement according to the invention can be used in the preparation of gums to treat or relieve symptoms related to stress, anxiety and nervousness.

Preferably, a cure is recommended to relieve or even treat the health problems described above.

Such a treatment makes it possible to substantially promote the health of the people treated.
The preferred method of use is to take three gums when needed, especially before the stressful event.
The formula of the food supplement according to the invention allows daily intake, non-caloric and non-cariogenic because the formula according to a preferred embodiment of the invention is sugar-free. The formula offers an effective combination of plants/essential oils/vitamins at the recommended dose to support anti-stress, relaxing properties.

For the purposes of the present invention, plant extract means: a liquid preparation (fluid extracts and tinctures), of semi-solid consistency (soft or firm extracts) or solid (dry extracts), obtained from plant plants generally at dry condition. Extracts are defined by their production process (state of the plant drug, solvent, extraction conditions) and their specifications (Definition according to the European Pharmacopoeia). The extraction is carried out using an appropriate solvent (generally ethanol and/or water) from one or more batches of drug, which may have previously undergone different treatments such as grinding or even degreasing.

Example of composition for the equivalent of 3 erasers:
- bulking agent: maltitol;
- gelling agent: pectin
- acidifying agent: citric acid;
- dry extract of Ginseng: Panax ginseng-root; 60 mg;
- dry extract of Rhodiola: Rhodiola rosea L. – root; 30 mg;

- essential oil of Marjoram, Origanum majorana L. aerial part: 2.3 mg;
- natural flavor ;
- dry extract of Poppy, Papaver rhoeas L. petal, 22.4 mg;
- acidifying agent: sodium citrate;
- coating agent: Carnauba wax;
- hydroglycerinated macerate Blackcurrant, Ribes nigrum L. -leaf 5 mg;
- Vitamin B3 – nicotinamide, 2.4 mg; 15% NRV;
- Vitamin B12 – cyanocobalamin, 0.376 μg – 15% VNR.

Detailed description of some s ingredients of the supplement according to the invention:

Essential oil :
For the purposes of the present invention, essential oil means: a volatile essence extracted from aromatic plants or organs of this plant by distillation by steam distillation.

Green Mandarin essential oil:

Green Mandarin essential oil is used for relaxation and relaxation. Soothing, it relieves the mind and facilitates sleep. The botanical name is Citrus reticulata Blanco. Part of the plant extracted: Pericarps of the fruit (zest) still green. It is obtained by cold expression then centrifugation.

Marjoram essential oil with shells:

Marjoram (Origanum majorana) is an annual or biennial plant measuring sixty centimeters, from the Lamiaceae family and native to the eastern Mediterranean basin.

Very renowned for its calming properties, Marjoram essential oil is used to relieve stress and anxiety and regulate sleep disorders. The botanical name is Origanum majorana. The part of the plant extracted: aerial parts. It is obtained by complete distillation by steam distillation.

Poppy dry extract

The poppy (Papaver rhoeas) is a herbaceous plant that belongs to the Papaveraceae family.

Poppy helps you fall asleep and helps fight various sleep disorders in a natural way. Poppy extract is able to act against stress, anxiety, nervousness, agitation.

Rhodiola:

Rhodiola (Rosea L.) is an adaptogenic plant which helps improve the body's resistance against nervousness and stress.

Vitamin B3:

vitamin B ₃ (C ₆ H ₅ NO ₂ ) is a water-soluble vitamin which corresponds to two molecules: niacin (nicotinic acid) and its amide, nicotinamide, sometimes called niacinamide. It is also called vitamin PP for preventive pellagra because a deficiency in this vitamin is responsible for pellagra.

Vitamin B12

Vitamin B ₁₂ , also called cobalamin, is a water-soluble vitamin, essential for the normal functioning of the brain (it participates in the synthesis of neurotransmitters, of the nervous system (it is essential for maintaining the integrity of the nervous system and particularly of the myelin sheath which protects the nerves and optimizes their functioning) and blood formation. It is one of the eight B vitamins.

It exists in several forms belonging to the cobalamin family. Cobalamins have a chemical structure close to heme but the central iron atom is replaced by a cobalt atom, hence their name.

Bulking agents:

Bulking agents are food additives added to a foodstuff in order to increase its volume without significantly increasing its calorific or nutritional value. They are used to load the food preparation, that is to say, to give it volume without dominating the flavor of the food. These compounds, other than water and air, are also called fillers or blowing agents. Polydextrose (E 1200), mannitol (E 965), maltitol (E 421) and gum arabic or acacia gum (E414) are additives used as bulking agents.

Maltitol:

Maltitol (E965) is a polyol used as a mass sweetener to replace sugar.

Glazing agent

Coating agents are food additives that protect food with a thin layer. They give them a shiny and smooth appearance when applied to the external surface. Thus, they exert a physical action by constituting a protective coating on the surface of food.
This category of food additives corresponds, among others, to different waxes, notably beeswax (E 901), carnauba wax (E 903) and candelilla wax (E 902). We will not omit microcrystalline wax (E 905), nor shellac resin (E 904) and even less gum arabic (E 414).

Coating agents give foods surface characteristics, giving them a shiny and attractive appearance. They give shine and smooth or standardize the appearance of the food while improving its presentation. These edible substances are used to decorate foods and make them more appetizing to consumers. They wrap food products and make them more attractive. Coating agents only adhere to the surface and form a coating around the food. They constitute a superimposed layer or form a film which protects foodstuffs against spoilage due to natural oxidation.

Carnauba:
Carnaúba is a wax made from the leaves of a palm tree from northeastern Brazil, Copernicia prunifera . It is generally found in the form of yellow-brown, brittle, very odorous shavings. This wax is obtained by beating the leaves of Copernicia prunifera , followed by refining and sometimes bleaching.

Carnauba wax is an ingredient widely used in the composition of shoe polishes, automobile waxes, confectionery where it provides a shiny surface as well as for polishing sugar-coated tablets. It is authorized as a food additive under number E903 as a coating agent.

Gelling agent:

• d'extraits d'os d'animaux (la gélatine) ou
• d'extraits végétaux (pectines, alginates, carraghénanes, agar-agar, amidon).

A gelling agent, also called a gelling agent, is a texturing agent that gives foods the consistency of a gel. It could be:

• animal bone extracts (gelatin) or
• plant extracts (pectins, alginates, carrageenans, agar-agar, starch).

The term “gelling agent” is reserved for texturizers of plant origin.

Food supplement including plant extracts, essential oils and vitamins.
Food supplement according to claim 1, not containing sugars.
Food supplement according to any one of claims 1 or 2, characterized in that:
a) plant extracts include:
- a dry extract of Rhodiola root, and/or
- a dry extract of Poppy petals, and/or
- a dry extract of Ginseng roots, and/or
b) essential oils include:
- a green mandarin essential oil, and/or
- an essential oil of Marjoram with shells, and/or
c) vitamins include:
- vitamin B3, and/or
- vitamin B12.
Food supplement according to claim 3, characterized in that it comprises each of the ingredients listed in said claim.
Food supplement according to claim 4, characterized in that it further comprises one or more of the following ingredients:
- a loading agent;
- a sweetening agent;
- a gelling agent;
- an acidifying agent;
- a coating agent;
- natural flavors.
Food supplement according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that it comprises the following ingredients in the following quantities:
- from 0.01 to 10%, preferably between 0.01% to 5%, Rhodiola extract;
- from 0.01 to 10%, preferably between 0.01% to 5%, Poppy extract;
- from 0.01 to 10%, preferably between 0.01% to 5%, Ginseng extract;
- from 0.01 to 10%, preferably between 0.01% to 5%, the essential oil of
Green tangerine;
- from 0.01 to 10%, preferably between 0.01% to 5%, the essential oil of
Marjoram with shells;
- from 0.01 to 5%, preferably between 0.01% to 1%, vitamin B3;
- from 0.01 to 5%, preferably between 0.01% to 1%, vitamin B12;
Food supplement according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that:
- the plant extracts represent between 0.1 and 10%, preferably between 0.5 and 2% by weight of the composition; and or
- the essential oils represent between 0.01 and 2%, preferably between 0.01 and 0.5% by weight of the composition; and or
- the vitamins represent between 0.01 and 2%, preferably between 0.01 and 0.1% by weight of the composition.
Food supplement according to claim 5, characterized in that it comprises:
- maltitol as a bulking agent and/or sweetener, and/or
- pectin as a gelling agent, and/or
- citric acid and/or sodium citrate as acidifying agent, and/or
-Carnauba wax as a coating agent.
Food supplement according to claim 8, characterized in that it is in the form of a tablet, a capsule, a gum or any other dosage form which can be used orally.
