La présente invention concerne notamment l’utilisation cosmétique d’un extrait de Phaeodactylum tricornutum pour maintenir et/ou augmenter le volume de la peau et/ou des lèvres, et/ou repulper la peau, avantageusement la peau du visage, et/ou les lèvres, et/ou combler les zones creuses du visage. L’extrait est efficace pour repulper la peau et les lèvres. Protocole: Des fibroblastes et des adipocytes issus de peaux humaines saines (non pathologiques) de donneurs sains ont été co-cultivés après ensemencement dans un milieu DMEM (Dulbecco's Modified Eagle Medium) en présence de Sérum Fœtal Bovin (SFB) (10%) durant une période de 24 heures. Une concentration finale en poids par rapport au volume total de la culture de 0,1% (p/v) ou 0,05% (p/v) de la préparation huileuse comprenant l’extrait tel que préparé selon l’exemple 1a) a été ajouté à la culture, laquelle a ensuite été conduite durant une période supplémentaire de 24 heures après ajout de l’extrait. La même culture sans extrait (milieu de culture DMEM) a été conduite dans les mêmes conditions. Du triton (2%) a été ajouté aux cultures pour induire la lyse cellulaire. Le milieu de culture a été collecté puis les fibroblastes ont été fixés avec une solution de paraformaldéhyde (4%). Chaque condition a été réalisée en triplicata. Conclusion: l’extrait huileux selon l’invention a augmenté d’au moins 15% (en tenant compte de l’écart-type et jusqu’à 35% sans en tenir compte), et jusqu’à plus de 140% la quantité d’acide hyaluronique mesurée dans les cultures de fibroblastes, avec un effet dose notable, et présente un effet supérieur à celui du contrôle, démontrant son efficacité sur l’augmentation du volume de la peau, donc son effet repulpant. Ce sérum huileux a été évalué dans le cadre d’une étude clinique sur 28 jours, comprenant une population de 30 femmes âgées de 45 à 70ans, de type caucasien, et présentant une peau saine au sens de l’invention et notamment des zones de peau creusées (joues, pommettes, sillon nasogénien, contour des yeux…). Chaque femme s’est vue appliquer sur un premier hémi-visage le sérum huileux sus-décrit, et sur le second hémi-visage, une composition placebo sans l’extrait selon l’invention.
