Description

The present invention relates to a guide specifically designed to cooperate with an applicator bottle of liquid or pasty product on a surface. In a particular case commonly encountered in the automotive industry, it is a question of applying a liquid bonding primer on the periphery of a window, in an area which most often follows said contour at a constant distance, but which can sometimes depart from this constant distance. The primer is contained in a vial, the neck of which is equipped with an applicator pad device; the operator manually applies the primary; in known practice, it uses a cumbersome template to put the primary precisely on the area to "prime". But the setting up of the template, its removal, and the application operation take more than the desired cycle time of one minute to complete the operation. The object of the invention is therefore to improve the application process by means of a bottle guide specially designed for this purpose, in order to respect the desired cycle time. The invention achieves its goal by means of an applicator bottle guide device comprising an applicator section, the device comprising an attachment part to the applicator section of the applicator bottle, and, adjacent to the attachment part, a follow-up part. edge comprising a substantially flat surface of which exceeds a retractable pin. In use, the applicator section of the applicator bottle also protrudes from the plane of said planar surface of the device. When the pin protrudes from the surface, it can serve as a guide to the applicator section to keep it at a constant distance from the edge followed. But the fact that it is retractable allows the operator to overcome this constant distance to apply the product in other areas that deviate from the contour of the room. Advantageously, the pin is elastically retractable in the edge tracking portion. For this purpose, the pin comprises a head housed in a cylindrical chamber formed in the edge-monitoring part, a compression spring resting on one side on the head of the pin and on the other side on a wall of chamber end, advantageously formed by a closure cap of the chamber. Advantageously, the attachment portion to the applicator section of the applicator bottle is formed by a complementary shaped orifice 5 of the shape of a portion of the applicator section. For example, the applicator section of the bottle is slightly frustoconical, and the attachment portion may comprise a cylindrical or preferably frustoconical orifice that can be poured onto the applicator section of the bottle. It is possible that splines are provided both on the applicator section and also in the cylindrical orifice. The invention also relates to a method for applying a product to a contoured surface by using an applicator bottle comprising an applicator section, characterized in that a guide device comprising a part is attached to said applicator section. attachment to the applicator section of the applicator bottle, and, adjacent to the attachment portion, an edge tracking portion comprising a substantially planar surface from which a retractable peg exceeds. Other features and advantages of the invention will emerge from the following description of an exemplary embodiment. Reference is made to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 is a side view of the device of the invention, the applicator bottle being mounted in the device. Figure 2 is a bottom view of the device of the invention. Figure 3 a side view of the device of the invention. The device 10 of the invention cooperates with a bottle 1 provided with an applicator tip 2 ending with a foam pad 3 for applying a liquid product such as a bonding primer to the flat surface of a glass pane 4. edge 5. The tip 2 is for example screwed onto the bottle 1 and is substantially cylindrical or preferably slightly frustoconical. The device 10 has an attachment part 11 and an edge-tracking part 12. The attachment part 11 is constituted by a plate pierced with an orifice 13 which is cylindrical or preferably slightly frustoconical so as to come threading and catching on the tip 2 of the bottle 1. Longitudinal splines may be formed on the tip 2 35 and in the orifice 13 to rotate the position of one in the other.

Dans la position rétractée, le pion 20 n'impose plus le suivi de bord 5 et l'opérateur est libre d'appliquer le produit où il le veut sur la vitre 4. 20 25The attachment plate 11 is extended on the side of the orifice 13 by a block in which are formed three coaxial bores of increasing diameter, 14, 15, 16, parallel to the axis of the orifice 13 (FIG. 3). . The orifice 13 and the bore 14 open into a flat surface 17 common to the attachment portion 11 and the edge tracking portion 12. The bore 16 is threaded. The bore 14 slidably houses the rod 21 of a pin 20 whose head 22 is of a larger diameter corresponding to that of the intermediate bore 15. It also houses a helical spring 23 which presses on one side on the head 22 and is blocked on the other by a plug 24 screwed into the tapped bore 16. The plug 24 can be manipulated by a male key cooperating with a cavity formed in the outer face of the plug 24. FIG. represents the bottle 1 and the device 10 in working position on the pane 4: the pad 3 deposits the liquid on the pane 4, at a distance from the edge 5 kept constant thanks to the pin 20 which protrudes from the surface 17 more than the buffer 3 does not exceed. The pin 20 is retractable in the housing 14, 15 by compressing the spring 23 so as not to exceed the surface 17 more than the pad 3. In the retracted position, the pin 20 no longer imposes the edge tracking 5 and the operator is free to apply the product where he wants it on the glass 4. 20 25
