Abstract
The invention relates to a new strain of Stenotrophomonas bacteria, namely the Stenotrophomonas sp. Br8 deposited with the Colección Española de Cultivos Tipo under accession number CECT 9810. It also relates to a material comprising bacteria of this strain immobilized in porous matrices and to the use of said bacteria or said material to decontaminate in uranium(VI) from water or aqueous effluents. Applications: bioremediation of water from streams, bodies of water, natural or artificial, or groundwater; decontamination of aqueous effluents from extraction and/or processing activities of uranium ores or phosphate ores containing uranium.
