L'invention décrit un procédé de captation d'impuretés organométalliques dans une charge d'hydrocarbures de type essence contenant des oléfines et du soufre, dans lequel une masse de captation est mise en contact avec la charge à traiter et un flux d'hydrogène, ladite masse de captation comprend une phase active à base de particules d'oxyde de nickel de taille inférieure ou égale à 15 nm, ladite phase active ne comprenant pas d'autres éléments métalliques du groupe VIB ou du groupe VIII, déposées sur un support poreux choisi dans le groupe constitué par les alumines, la silice, les silices alumines, ou encore les oxydes de titane ou de magnésium utilisés seuls ou en mélange avec l'alumine ou la silice alumine.
