Abstract

The invention relates to the solution for getting rid of Sargassum algae recovered in the open sea. It is a question of recovering seaweeds at sea: the most appropriate means is pumping; this process assumes that a collection work is performed upstream by a third party. For example, the algae are already trapped in a floating dam. A powerful suction pump collects the algae mixed with a certain amount of water and injects them directly into the large-flow mill (5 to 10 m3 / hour). The sargasse water mixture is necessary for more fluidity; otherwise we obtain a sargassum paste more difficult to sell. After grinding we obtain a slurry of seaweed that will be sent to a barge. This porridge inevitably flows once released into the water. This device will be particularly used in case of recovery of algae by industrialists, because if the weight does not move, the volume is significantly reduced. This porridge can be used as food for some species for breeding: fish farming. Other destinations can be exploited such as the transformation into bio fuel or the replacement of plastic in the manufacture of objects.

Description

The present invention relates to offshore treatment of brown sargassum which represents a real plague in the West Indies Guyana.

Every year Sargassum seaweeds fail on accessible beaches or not.

The volume of the phenomenon and the speed of stranding inevitably take all the stakeholders by surprise.

It is important to know that H2S damages the health of local residents as well as damaging the household appliances.

In addition marine biodiversity is affected: turtles have trouble coming to lay on beaches and babies die before returning to the sea after hatching. Coral bleaches and herbaria are suffocated by lack of oxygen and light. This is the race to pick up.

Then arise the problems of treatment and storage.

The authorities are thinking of collecting at sea. This would also involve transporting, processing and storing once the sargasses are returned to shore.

Then a technical problem arises: we must get rid of the seaweeds caught in the open sea.

Mais alors comment?But how?

My project is to intervene at sea while avoiding the infrastructure generated by transport to land.

The algae must be collected, crushed and dumped in deep water. So I conducted the experiment of grinding a small quantity of algae (5 KG) added with water (2 I); Approximately 7KG of slurry is obtained. Rejected at sea (exp: at the foot of a pontoon), the solution flows and regains the bottom. The goal is to create the offshore sargasse crusher boat.

The algae can be hoisted on board by a suction pump located at the front of the boat, the pumping being done from a dam made by an independent partner.

The crusher in the rear part would be fed directly.

Note that the flow must be very high: 5 to 10 m3 / hour.

The seaweed porridge will be propelled into a barge attached to the crusher boat. This freestanding barge will dump crushed algae on previously selected sites.

Industrialists can also recover these crushed algae for other uses.
