Abstract
The method involves permanently measuring a position of a synchronization sleeve (40) by a linear position sensor. Rapid fall of a feed speed of the synchronization sleeve is detected by an electronic controller through a calculation from the position measurement to deduce a start position of a synchronization phase. The start position of the synchronization phase is secured in a memory by the controller, and evolution of the start position is periodically monitored by the controller for updating the memory.
