Abstract

Cosmetic or pharmaceutical composition comprises an exopolysaccharide obtained from Cobetia marinastrain (CNCM I-4353), and having soothing and antiinflammatory properties, where the exopolysaccharide comprises a sequence of 1-3 monomers of glucose, 1-2 monomers of galactose, 1-3 monomers of rhamnose, glucuronic acid and galacturonic acid in the form of traces, and a sulfate of 10-20 wt.% of polymer. ACTIVITY : Antiinflammatory; Dermatological; Antipruritic; Analgesic. The antiinflammatory activity of the composition (comprising exopolysaccharide) was tested in human fibroblasts by measuring the production of prostaglandin E2 (PGE2). The result showed that the composition decreased the production of PGE2 to 57% compared to control. MECHANISM OF ACTION : None given.
