Abstract

The element (1) has an opaque coating layer (3) deposited on a back face of a tinted/colored partially transparent visible layer (2), where color of the visible layer is same as that of the coating layer. A foamed pattern (4) is formed on a visible face (2') corresponding to an upper face of the visible layer. An engraved pattern (5) is formed in the coating layer by totally or partially removing a material constituting the coating layer. The engraved pattern and the foamed pattern are formed by single action of a laser. A lighting device (6) is positioned below the engraved pattern. The laser is a standard fiber laser or yttrium aluminum garnet (YAG) laser. An independent claim is also included for a method for realizing a surface decorative element.
