Abstract

Wine barrel mixer (I) comprising a drive with a motor (1) and cam (2), or a reciprocating motor with no cam, connected to a tube (6) with vanes (4), a single vane or chains on its lower end, is new. The mixer is lowered through the bung-hole of a wooden barrel (5), the hole is closed with a bung (3) on the tube, and the tube is moved up and down by the drive to put the sediment in suspension in the fermenting wine.

 The present invention relates to a mechanical device allowing the suspension of wine lees during aging in all types of wooden barrels.

The batonnage operation is traditionally done by hand, using a stick which is swung in the barrel through the bung hole, but this is very tedious, painful and irregular.

 Bubbling makes it possible to do this, but the injection of oxygen into the barrel oxidizes the wine, or the introduction of nitrogen has the consequence of lightening the wine.

 Said invention overcomes these drawbacks. According to a first characteristic, the system is motorized. In addition, a balance system enters the barrel through the hole in the drain, and the motor drives the balance in an alternating and oscillating movement.

This allows the lees to be resuspended without physical effort and without affecting the quality of the wine.

 With reference to these drawings, the device comprises a motor (1) which rotates an eccentric (2), which has the effect of causing a tube (6) to swing in the barrel (5), articulated on the bung (3 ). The latter being in the bung hole of the barrel (5).

 According to variants not illustrated, the eccentric can be eliminated if the motor is replaced by a reciprocating motor. But still, chains can be fitted on the blades.

 The present invention is intended for the suspension of wine lees in barrels.

CLAIM 1. Device for suspending the lees of wine during its aging characterized by a motor (1) which drives an eccentric (2), or said motor can be alternative and in this case there is no more eccentric , which causes the rocking of the tube (6), with blades (4) or a blade or chains at its end, articulated or not on the bung (3), this one already being in the bung hole of the barrel (5). 2. Device according to claim 1 characterized in that chains can be fitted on the blades. 3. Device according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the said system is adaptable to all types of wooden barrel.
