 The present invention relates to the processing of digitized documents.

 Within the meaning of the invention, a scanned document is a document which has been the subject of a prior processing to be represented by characters such as numbers, in order to be used on computer tools in the form of a digital file. The initial document from which the digital file is obtained can be, for example, a drawing, a photograph, a video sequence, or even a piece of music.

 The invention relates more particularly to a process for processing digitized documents, which allows a user who only has a computer connected to a network such as the internet, and who does not have specific technical knowledge, to compose a real program multimedia, interactive and personalized at a low price level, accessible to a specific client. This program is then sent to the aforementioned user on a computer medium, such as a CD-ROM, by a service provider, such as a manufacturing workshop.

 The result of the implementation of this process for processing digitized documents is therefore what is called a multimedia, interactive and personalized program.

 The acceptance that should be given to the term "multimedia" resides in the fact that the invention makes it possible to combine digitized documents belonging to at least the three categories of media that are texts, sounds and images.

 The term "interactive" refers first of all to the number of documents capable of being processed in accordance with the invention, in the sense that the latter allows the processing of a large number of scanned documents, for example at least one hundred. Then, because of the richness of the content, the user must be able to discover it quickly, in different ways that he can take at leisure, without being forced to follow a linear path. Thus, the program should only require an execution time of the order of a few seconds to access a

Finally, for it to be truly "interactive", the user must be able to interact with certain elements of the program, by choosing for example to move an element that it contains to another place, for example by writing a photograph on a voucher order to edit this purchase order later, or to change the presentation of this element, for example by enlarging a photograph and writing it on a background of a different color.

 Within the meaning of the invention, the term “personalized” means that the processing method allows an individual to register a significant number of documents which are specific to him, for example at least fifty of these documents, by placing them in the order he desires. For example, the user can arrange photos relating to an event, respecting their chronological order.

 In the known state of the art, the user who wishes to design such a program can use two solutions.

 According to the first of them, he can turn to a company specializing in the creation of multimedia programs. This company will organize the work of several speakers, each exercising a precise function which requires specific technical knowledge: - an author, who describes the scenario of the program; - a project manager, aware of all aspects of the production, who coordinates the work of all the actors, - a graphic designer, able to process all the visual elements, - a sound technician, able to process the elements sound, and - a developer, capable of coding the program and inserting into a coherent whole all the digitized documents that the other participants will have generated.

 This first solution, if properly implemented, effectively creates a real

 multimedia, interactive and personalized program. However, it has the disadvantage of a large number of technical skills to be mobilized around the implementation of the program, which entails a high cost, in order to compensate the working time of the various participants. It also has the drawback of requiring the individual client to have to devote significant time in order to explain to the project manager the details of the personalized program he wishes.

 Another solution, the implementation of which requires less time and a much lower budget, consists in using a computer program which helps the user to create his own personalized multimedia program. This help program can be either software directly installed on the user's computer, for example "Frontpage 2000" (registered trademark) published by "Microsoft" (registered trademark), or an online service accessible by a network. such as the Internet, this service known as "online assistant" can be, for example, the "Tripod" service (registered trademark) published by "Lycos" (registered trademark).

 The software or online service mentioned above help the user to build step by step a set of so-called "web" pages, that is to say intended to be published on the network such as the Internet, for then be consulted by browser software, for example "Netscape Navigator 4. 0" (registered trademark) edited by "Netscape" (registered trademark). These pages most often contain formatted text and links pointing to other "web" pages or digitized documents, for example images or sounds.

 It should be noted that the software or the online assistant allow the user to create such a program without the need for any particular computer knowledge. Once completed, these "web" pages are intended to constitute the client's multimedia, interactive and personalized program, as defined above.

 Concretely, the user first chooses the type of layout he wishes. He then has the option of scanning a photo himself and writing it in his

 program, then he can possibly choose, from an image library, elements to enhance it. Finally, it runs a program that automatically generates the publication of pages on the Internet by making them accessible, using a browser, from any computer connected to said network.

 It should be noted that the user interacts directly with the software or the online assistant, and this independently: it is he and he alone who implements the program, either on his own computer, or on the network such than the internet. This is a fundamental point on which the present invention differs, since this characteristic induces certain disadvantages for the user.

 Indeed, since the latter is autonomous, he must digitize his documents himself. Consequently, to create his multimedia program, interactive and personalized, the user cannot be satisfied with his computer. It must indeed have a device such as a scanner to scan photos, or a digital camera. This solution therefore requires him to acquire additional equipment, in addition to his computer.

 Once the photos are scanned, another problem arises. Since he does not have the knowledge specific to the profession of graphic designer, the user is not able to optimize the weight of these digitized images by reworking them.

 Indeed, within the meaning of the invention, optimizing a digitized image for then integrating it into an interactive multimedia program consists in adjusting its optimization parameters on specialized software, for example Photoshop software (registered trademark) in its version 5.5 published by Adobe (registered trademark), or Image Ready software (registered trademark), also published by Adobe (registered trademark), until a satisfactory compromise is reached between the size of the scanned file and the quality of the image. In the end, if the client intends his program to be published on the internet, and if this program contains a significant number of documents scanned by the user, for example fifty photos, illustrations and pieces of music, then this program will be very slow to implement, and it will absolutely not present this ease of navigation proper to real interactive programs. Furthermore, if, rather than publishing on the internet, the user would like to write his program on an independent medium such as a CD-ROM, in order to be able to read it more easily, he would then have to face two constraints: - have a device to burn the program on the support, for example a CD-ROM burner, - view the support only on a computer equipped with suitable browser software.

 In fact, this solution is not suitable because it diverts the purpose of a "web" page: if the program is intended to appear on an independent medium, then the best solution is to have an executable type program, which does not need other software such as a browser to be implemented.

 Finally, this solution has a final drawback: the fact of scanning and / or carrying out the necessary retouching on a significant number of documents, for example photos and pieces of music, involves a non-negligible and tedious work for the individual.

 Given these drawbacks, the creation of a real multimedia, interactive and personalized program is not offered today, at least at an acceptable price for individual customers, while market studies clearly indicate that a large number of them, for example people who get married, are very interested in such a service, provided of course that the final product does not exceed a certain price level.

 The invention proposes to implement a method for processing digitized documents, making it possible to overcome all of the drawbacks of the prior art mentioned above.

 To this end, it relates to a process for processing digitized documents presented in an initial arrangement, comprising the following steps: - transfer, on a computer network such as the Internet, of documents scanned in an initial arrangement, said documents originating from a third ; - third party access to said documents in said initial layout via said network; - modification by the third party of said initial provision of these documents, so as to give them a modified provision; - implementation, depending on the modified layout, of software for creating a multimedia program, and - placing on an information medium of said program.

 According to different variants of the invention, the following transfer methods can be provided: - the transfer of the digitized documents over the computer network is carried out directly by the third party, without the intervention of a service provider; the method comprises a preliminary step in which the personal documents are supplied to the service provider in analog form, the service provider taking charge of scanning them and then transferring them over the network; - The method includes a prior step in which the personal documents are provided to the service provider in digital form, the service provider being responsible for transferring them over said network.

 According to other characteristics of the invention: the method further comprises a step prior to the modification of the initial arrangement, step during which the architecture of the modified arrangement is defined, this architecture comprising several headings.

 This step can also consist in associating with one or more headings at least one annexed digitized element, such as an illustration or a music; - the modification of the arrangement of the documents includes a modification of their sequence; - the software is implemented by the third party directly on the network; - the software is implemented by the service provider on the basis of the information relating to the modified provision, these information being accessible to the service provider via the network, while the software is implemented in a local computer system.

 The service provider's local computer system is understood to mean the computer system which only he can access.

 In this case, in the local computer system, it is possibly possible to assign to at least certain personal scanned documents a resolution higher than the resolution of those which have been transferred on said computer network, the software then using the documents with the higher resolution to create , from information provided by the third party, the program.

 The invention also relates to a digital medium, in particular a CD-ROM, obtained by the implementation of the method as defined above.

 An exemplary embodiment of the invention is given below, without limitation, with reference to Figures 1 and 2 attached, which are diagrams respectively illustrating: - the IT infrastructure allowing the implementation of the processing method of the invention (Figure 1) and - the different steps of the treatment process according to the invention (Figure 2).

 As shown in FIG. 2, the service provider P first of all carries out an initialization phase (step 1) which consists in creating the client file C in the CLIENT and website I directories with a folder architecture as defined on figure 1. It should be noted that the sub-folders of the client folder are empty, in the CLIENTS directory as in the website I directory.

 Step 2 is to get the documents in scanned form. To this end, the service provider receives documents from a third party, which may be an individual such as customer C, or even another service provider appointed by the customer, such as a photographer or a laboratory specializing in the photo processing. If the documents have been sent to it in analog form, the provider must obtain a digital version by any known means.

 Step 3 is for the service provider to classify and reprocess the documents inside the client C file in the CLIENTS directory. The provider first classifies the scanned documents according to whether they have a layout

 horizontal or vertical. This preliminary classification has the advantage of allowing so-called "MACRO" serial processing on Photoshop 5. 5 image processing software (registered trademark) published by Adobe (registered trademark), in order to confer documents from the same folder an identical format.

 Using this batch processing process, the service provider then saves all of the digitized documents having a vertical direction: - in high resolution in the PVRH sub-folder ("high resolution vertical photos") of the PV folder ("vertical photos" ) in client C's folder located in the CUSTOMERS directory, - in low resolution in the PVRB sub-folder ("low resolution vertical photos") of the PV folder ("vertical photos") in client C's folder located in the directory CLIENTS.

 It does the same for horizontal photos, by saving them: - in low resolution in the PHRB sub-folder and - in high resolution in the PHRH sub-folder.

 Having documents in two different resolutions is advantageous. In fact, only documents in low resolution will be saved in the "website" directory accessible to the client. Given their low resolution, the customer will be able to quickly view and select them, while a high resolution would cause substantial delays in downloading information.

 The service provider takes care to keep a correspondence between the two files of different resolutions which represent the same document.

Once this step 3 has been carried out, the service provider copies the PVRB and PHRB files located in client C's file in the CLIENTS directory to the client C folder in the website directory, using FTP link software available on the market: this is step 4.

 During the step referenced 5, the client C accesses a space reserved for him on the website, for example by means of an access code that the provider has previously entrusted to him. This space is made up of pages programmed, for example, in HTML language, located in the FA folder ("access window") of the website I directory of the IT infrastructure of the service provider.

 Step 6 consists, for client C, in determining from its access window the architecture of the interactive multimedia program that it will create. For example, he can choose the number of headings and name them. He can also assign to each of these headings one or more of the additional elements available in the database, for example an illustration and a music. All this information is saved in a file such as a Text file, not shown, located in the "client preferences" folder PC, itself located in the client C folder on the Internet site I.

 Once this step 6 has been carried out, the client has therefore determined the architecture and layout of his personalized program. During step 7, it displays the personal documents, which are stored in the two "low resolution" PVRB and PHRB files of the Internet site directory I, and it designates these documents one by one, for example horizontal or vertical photos, in the order he wishes, within the architecture defined in step 6. All of this information on the choice of photos in this or that section and the order in which they are inserted, is stored in the file in the PC folder "client preferences", on the website I directory.

 During a step 8, the client chooses a certain number of documents which will be subject to specific processing. It can be for example one or more photographs, which will be cropped and inserted at the beginning of each

 This information is also stored in the file in the PC directory ("customer preferences") of the customer C file on the website I.  Indeed, to avoid the weight constraint of all the scanned documents, for example photos, that the client must be able to view on the same web page (in order to choose those he wishes to register in such or such section of its program), the service provider establishes a correspondence between the documents scanned in a high resolution, stored on its local computer system to which access is reserved, and the same documents scanned in a low resolution, accessible on its website.

 The advantages of the invention are manifold.

 By using the method of the invention, the service provider can propose the creation of an interactive and personalized multimedia program at a price level acceptable to the individual customer, since the implementation of this method is rapid, therefore inexpensive.

 Steps 5, 6, 7 and 8, which are those during which the individual client intervenes in the manufacturing process, are fun for him because the client is only solicited for the purpose of personalizing his program. As described by the invention, the method relieves it in particular of the tedious work which consists in scanning documents.

 In addition, these steps 5, 6, 7 and 8 are relatively quick to perform because the documents that the client must view on the internet have a low resolution and are therefore downloaded within a very short time.

 If, for the individual customer, this process makes it possible to create a program in an inexpensive, fun and fast way, this same process remains satisfactory in terms of quality and personalization, which the customer is entitled to expect for a program he created in his image, for example for an event such as a wedding. Each product obtained through this process is an original creation, the content and layout of which have been chosen by the client: program architecture, illustrations, music, choice and sequence of photos in each section. In addition, each product is truly multimedia, interactive and personalized, in the sense as defined by the invention, which in particular guarantees the user easy and intuitive navigation when they make use of it.

Method for processing digitized documents, comprising the following steps: - transfer (4), over a computer network (I) such as the Internet, of documents digitized in an initial arrangement, said documents coming from a third party; - access (5) of the third party (C) to said documents in said initial arrangement via said network (I);

 - modification (7) by the third party of said initial disposition of these documents, so as to give them a modified disposition; - implementation (11), according to the modified arrangement, of software for creating a multimedia program and - placing on an information medium (12) of said program.  2. Method according to claim l, characterized in that the transfer (4) of the scanned documents on the computer network (I) is carried out directly by the third party (C), without the intervention of a service provider (P).  3. Method according to claim l, characterized in that it comprises a prior step in which said personal documents are supplied to said service provider (P) in analog form, said service provider being responsible for scanning them (2) and then transferring them (4 ) on said network (I).  4.
