Abstract

The plug has a socket (111) for receiving a pin (4), and contact blades (112G, 112H) with a section (140) and bulged part (146) in the socket. Each blade has a connection portion (137) arranged against a side of a motor (115). The motor has a general orientation transversal to insertion or withdrawal direction of the pin. The motor has an access window (145) for the socket and opposite to the side against which the portion is arranged.

Description

The invention relates to telephone jacks.

  It is known that the plugs of this type, which conform to the conventional French standard, are designed to receive a generally T-shaped spindle bearing six or eight contact blades disposed on the lateral faces of a central core.

  Certain models of known telephone contactor plugs comprise a cover designed to be separate from the motor comprising the receptacle of the spindle. In such motors, the connecting face of the telephone wires of the telephone cable is located at the front.

  In other known telephone connector models, the cover and the motor are associated with each other at the factory once and for all, the connection being made on two opposite sides of the motor.

  The invention aims to improve the manufacturing conditions of these different versions of plugs.

  It proposes for this purpose a telephone line jack comprising a motor having a socket for receiving the pin of a telephone line plug and having contact blades each having a first portion disposed in said cell and a second portion disposed against a face of said motor having a general orientation transverse to the direction of insertion or withdrawal of said pin, which second portion of each contact blade comprises a connecting portion; characterized in that opposite said face against which is disposed said second portion of the contact blades, said motor has a window access to said cell, the pin of a telephone line plug.

  It can be seen that the motor of the receptacle according to the invention has the same arrangement as the motors intended to be separated from the cover, but that it is suitable for being integrated into a receptacle whose motor and cover are associated with each other. the other once for all since the window formed opposite the connecting face allows this face to be arranged at the rear.

  It is naturally possible to use the same motor for both types of plugs, by placing the connection face either in front or behind.

  Anyway, even if we use separate motors for outlets whose cover is separable from the engine and those whose engine is associated once and for all with the lid, or indeed to another element such as a peripheral fixing frame, it is possible to optimize the manufacture of the motors using the same industrial tool to operate the establishment of the contact blades.

  Thus, in a first preferred embodiment, said access window is located at the front.

  According to preferred features of this embodiment, for reasons of simplicity and convenience both in manufacture and in use: said socket comprises a cover to which said motor is associated; and optionally - said cover closely surrounds said motor; and / or said lid and said motor comprise mutual latching means; and / or - said lid has a flange provided with latching means to a peripheral support.

  According to other preferred features of this embodiment, said socket comprises a peripheral support to which said motor is associated.

  According to generally preferred characteristics, for the same reasons as those set out above: said cell also opens into said face against which said second portion of the contact blades is disposed; and possibly - said face against which is disposed said second portion of the contact blades, is shaped to provide the pin of a telephone line plug access to said cell; and / or - said face against which is disposed said second portion of the contact blades, comprises, on either side of said cell, eight trays, each of which is part of a pair of opposing plates located at the same level on the one hand and another of said cell; and possibly - against each said plate is applied said connecting portion of a respective one of said contact blades; and optionally - said face against which is disposed said second portion of the contact blades, comprises a wall between each said plate and said cell, with each said contact blade which comprises an angle of which a branch makes said connecting portion and whose another branch is arranged opposite the said wall; and possibly - each said blade has a J profile section whose curved portion bypasses said wall and whose straight portion is immersed in said cell; and / or said face against which is disposed said second portion of the contact blades, comprises, for each said plate, away from said cell, a slot-shaped well in which is engaged a return of a respective one of said blades of contact; and / or - each said plate is bordered by two opposite ribs.

  According to other generally preferred features, again for the same reasons: at least two said opposed contact blades each comprise a catch which is connected to a return cooperating with an abutment rib; and optionally - each said blade disposed in the longitudinal branch of said cell has a catch which is connected to a return cooperating with an abutment rib; and / or at least two said opposed contact blades comprise in said cell a belly whose end forms a free end of the contact blade to which it belongs; and possibly - said two opposite blades are arranged in the transverse branch of said cell.

  According to other generally preferred features, again for the same reasons: said motor comprises a body in which said cell is formed and to which belongs said face against which said second portion of the contact blades is disposed; and / or - said motor comprises a plate in which is provided said access window; and optionally - said plate comprises ribs forming a stop for at least some said contact blades.

  The description of the invention will now be continued by the description of an exemplary embodiment, given below by way of illustration and not limitation, with reference to the accompanying drawings.   The telephone plug 1 and the wall socket 2 respectively illustrated in Figure 1 and Figure 2 are of the type called "contactor", conforming to the conventional French standard generally used for installations connected to the switched telephone network (PSTN).

  The plug 1 comprises a body 3 and a pin 4, which protrudes from a flat face 5 of the body 3.

  Pin 4 has a generally T-shaped profile. It comprises a core 6 and, in the example illustrated, eight contact blades 7A to 7H disposed on the lateral faces of the core 6.

  The contact blades 7G and 7H are disposed on either side of the transverse branch of the core 6 while it is on either side of its longitudinal branch that the contact blades 7A to 7F are arranged.

  Each of the contact blades 7A to 7H is part of a pair of opposed contact blades located at the same level on either side of the core 6 and shaped symmetrically with respect to each other, respectively know the pair 7A and 7B furthest from the transverse branch of the core 6, the pair 7E and 7F closest to the transverse branch, the pair 7C and 7D situated between the pair 7A and 7B and the pair 7E and 7F, and the pair 7G and 7H which is located at the transverse branch of the core 6.

  There is also a version of the telephone line card not including the pair 7G and 7H.

  The telephone wall jack 2 has a front face 10 in the center of which opens a window of the same profile as the pin 4, which window gives access to a cell 11 for receiving the pin 4.

  In the cell 11 are arranged contact blades 12A to 12H.

  When the plug 1 is in place in the socket 2, the pin 4 is received in the cell 11 and the face 5 is in abutment against the face 10 while each of the blades 7A to 7H is in contact with one of the blades 12A to 12H, respectively, that is, the blade 7A is in contact with the blade 12A and so on.

  The plug 2 is intended to be fixed projecting against a wall. It comprises a base 13, a cover 14 to which the front face 10 and a motor 15, illustrated in Figures 3 to 7, to which belong the contact blades 12A to 12H.

  As can be seen more particularly in FIG. 3, the base 13 has a rectangular contour and comprises a bottom wall provided in each corner with holes 16 for the passage of a screw for fixing the socket 2 to a wall. while in the center of the bottom wall of the base 13 is associated a plate 17 belonging to the motor 15, which further comprises the plate 17, and contact blades 12A to 12H (not shown in Figures 3 and 4 ), a body 18, shown in isolation in Figure 4, and for each contact blade, a securing screw (not shown) serving both to maintain the blade to the body and to form with the portion of the blade opposite the head of this screw, a connection terminal for a wire of a telephone cable.

  The body 18 comprises in its center the cell 11 for receiving the pin 4 of the telephone plug 1. On either side of the cell 11, on the front face, which has a general orientation parallel to the front face 10 of the cover 14, and therefore transverse to the direction of insertion or withdrawal of the plug 1, the body 18 comprises eight plates 19A to 19H in each of which opens a bore 21 for receiving one of the fastening screws ( not shown) mentioned above in the motor 15.

  Each of the plates 19A to 19H is part of a pair of opposing plates situated at the same level on either side of the cell 11, namely respectively the pair 19A and 19B furthest from the transverse branch of the cell 11, the pair 19E and 19F closest to the transverse branch, the pair 19C and 19D located between the pair 19A and 19B and the pair 19E and 19F, and the pair 19G and 19H which is located at the level of the transverse branch of the cell 11.

  We will now describe the portion of the body 18 located in the vicinity of the plate 19A, it being understood that this description also applies to the portions of the body 18 located in the vicinity of the plates 19B to 19H.

  The plate 19A has a general rectangular outline. One of its short sides is bordered by a wall 22 located between the plate 19A and the cell 11. The small opposite side is bordered by a well 23 in the form of a slot. The long sides of the plate 19A are bordered by a rib 24 which also borders the ends of the well 23. At each end, the wall 22 is connected to one of the ribs 24.

  The height of the wall 22 is slightly less than the height of the ribs 24 at the connection with the wall 22. Each of the ribs 24 has the same contour, with a height that increases from the outside to the inside, that is, that is to say that the height of the rib 24 increases between the well 23 and the wall 22.

  On the side of the plates 19A to 19H, that is to say at the front of the engine 15, the width of the cell 11 corresponds to the spacing between the walls 22. This width is greater between the walls 22 bordering the 19G and 19H trays between the other walls 22.

  Beyond the trays 19A to 19H, the cell 11 has on each side a recess 25. Each wall 22 is overhanging a recess 25.

  As will be seen later on in support of FIGS. 6 and 7, the recesses 25 allow the blades 12A to 12H to move during the insertion or removal of the plug 4.

  At each end, the cell 11 is bordered by a transverse wall, respectively 26 on the side of the plates 19G and 19H and 27 on the side of the plates 19A and 19B.

  The wall 26 carries, on the inner side, a flat boss 28 intended to serve as a stop for the contact blades 12G and 12H, as will be explained later with the support of FIG.

  Each of the walls 26 and 27 carries, on the external side, a chimney 29 whose central hole is provided for receiving the threaded rod of the screws 30 (FIG. 2) for fixing the cover 14.

  At the end of each chimney 29, on the rear side, that is to say on the side opposite the one where the trays 19A to 19H are located, each chimney 29 is extended by a frustoconical pin 31 (FIG. 4) protruding from the general limit of the body 18.

  The wafer 17 has a general contour similar to that of the body 18 and is applied against it on the rear side.

  A receiving hole is provided in the plate 17 for each of the pins 31. The final securing between the body 18 and the plate 17 is by ultrasonic welding.

  As seen in Figures 6 and 7, the plate 17 closes the cell 11 of the rear side.

  At the level where it closes the cell 11, the plate 17 has two parallel longitudinal ribs 35 aligned with the walls 22 which border the plates 19A to 19F, that is to say, in line with the walls 22 of the longitudinal branch of the cell 11. No rib such as 35 is provided on the plate 17 at the transverse branch of the cell 11.

  As will be explained later with the support of Figure 6, the ribs 35 serve as a stop for the contact blades 12A to 12F.

  The assembly between the motor 15 and the base 13 is carried out in a manner similar to the securing between the body 18 and the plate 17: pins similar to the pins 31 are provided behind the plate 17 while the wall bottom of the base 13 has corresponding receiving holes, the final subjection being made by ultrasonic welding.

  There is also a version of the socket 2 where the plate 17 is molded in one piece with the base 17 and a version where there is, in the bottom wall of the base 13, a cavity providing a temporary maintenance of the engine 15, which has chimneys whose hole is entirely through, this motor being locked by sandwiching between the base and the cover, by screws similar to the screws 30 whose threaded rods pass through the holes of the chimneys and are caught on the bottom wall of the base.

  The contact blade 12C will now be described, it being understood that this description also applies to the other contact blades of the motor 15, which are identical.

  The blade 12C is electrically conductive and relatively flexible metal. It comprises an angle iron 36 having a long limb 37 and a short limb 38. At the end of the limb 37 opposite the limb 38, the angle 36 connects to a return 39 parallel to and opposite the limb 38. The end of the angle 36 on the side of the branch 38 is connected to a first end of a section 40 to profile J. The other end of the section 40 is connected to one end of a lug 41 to J profile The other end of the catch 41 is connected to a return 42 parallel to the return 39.

  As seen in Figure 5, the blade 12C has a width slightly less than that of the plate 19C.

  The return 39 has a length corresponding to the depth of the well 23 and is engaged therein.

  The branch 37 of the bracket 36 has a length corresponding to that of the plate 19C, against which it is applied. In its center, the branch 37 has a hole (not shown) for passage of the aforementioned fastening screw rod cooperating with the bore 21. The branch 37, the securing screw and the bore 21 form a terminal connecting the blade 12C to a conductive wire of a telephone cable.

  The branch 38 of the bracket 36 has a length corresponding to the height of the wall 22, opposite which it is arranged.

  The bent portion of the section 40 bypasses the wall 22 while its right portion is immersed in the cell 11.

  The latch 41 has a camber corresponding to that of the groove formed at the end of the contact blades 7A to 7H of the telephone plug 1.

  As for the contact blades 12A to 12F, the return 42 is disposed in the recess 25, facing the outer lateral face of the corresponding groove 35.

  With regard to the contact blades 12G and 12H, the straight portion of the section 40 is arranged facing the boss 28.

  At rest, that is to say in the absence of pin 4 in the cell 11, the return 42 of each of the blades 12A to 12F bears against the corresponding rib 35 while each straight portion of the section 40 of the 12G and 12H blades is supported against the boss 28, as shown respectively in Figure 6 and Figure 7.

  When the pin 4 is inserted into the cell 11, it meets each of the blades 12A to 12H at the section 40, the pin 4 slides between these sections and its end meets the chins 41, turned towards each other , which has the effect of bending the sections 40 so that the lugs 41 opposite divert away from each other and engage in the corresponding grooves of the pin 4. When the face 5 of the 1 is in abutment against the face 10 of the socket 2, each of the chins 41 is housed in a groove of one of the contact blades 7A to 7G, so that it takes a certain effort, standardized at least 20N, to be able to extract the pin 4 out of the cell 11.

  We will now describe the socket according to the invention in support of Figures 8 to 12.

  For the elements similar to those of the socket 2, are used the same numerical references, but added of the number 100.

  As can be seen in FIGS. 8 and 9, the plate 117 of the motor 115 of the receptacle 102 does not close the cell 111, but has at its center a window 145 (see also FIG. 12) in the shape of a T, whose the contour corresponds to that of pin 4, to allow it to access the cell 111.

  The contact blades 112A to 112F are identical to the blades 12A to 12H, but, as seen in Figure 9, the blades 112G and 112H have a different conformation for their part located in the cell 111.

  In the blades 112G and 112H, the lug 141 and the return 142 are replaced by a belly 146 which is concave on the recess side 125.

  At rest, that is to say in the absence of pin 4 in the cell 111, the free end of each of the blades 112G and 112H, formed by the end of the belly 146 opposite that by which this belly is connected to the section 140, is opposite the plate 117 in the immediate vicinity of the window 145.

  Thus, in the cell 111, the distance between the contact blades 112G and 112H increases regularly from the window 145 to the vertices of these blades, where the spacing is minimal, whereas this distance decreases regularly between these peaks and the portion of the sections 140 which circumvents the walls 122.

  The metal in which the contact blades 112G and 112H is of the shape memory type: if the portions of the blades 112G and 112H located in the cell 111 are bent in the direction in which these portions deviate one from the other. on the other, that is to say in the direction making them penetrate further into the recesses 125, when the solicitation ceases, they will return to their initial position illustrated in FIG. 9.

  The insertion of the pin 4 in the motor 115 can be carried out as in the motor 15, that is to say by penetration into the cell 111 from the side opposite the wafer 117, but this insertion is also possible since the side where is the plate 117, through the window 145 and the conformation of the portion of the blades 112G and 112H which is in the cell 111.

  It is this insertion direction that is provided in the socket 102, as shown by the location of the pin 4 in FIGS. 8 and 9.

  When the pin 4 is thus introduced into the cell 111, it meets the blades 112A to 112H at the lug 141 and the blades 112G and 112H at the belly 146, which has the effect of bending the blades to allow the placing the chins 141 and bellies 146 in the corresponding grooves of the spindle 4. This occurs when the face 5 of the plug 1 is in abutment against the front face 110 of the socket 102 (Figure 10).

  As will be understood, in the socket 102 the plate 117 is placed against the front wall of the cover 114 while the connection terminals formed by the securing screws (not shown), by the sections 137 of the contact blades and by the bores 121 are located at the rear.

  This arrangement of the connection terminals makes it possible to associate the motor 115 and the cover 114 at the factory once and for all.

  The cover 114 is provided to be latched, as explained below, to a support (not shown) which surrounds it a little behind the front face 110, this support being intended to be fixed on the front of a box recessed or projecting then to be masked by a frame-shaped trim plate whose front face is flush with that of the lid 114.

  As seen in Figures 11 and 12, the cover 114 tightly surrounds the motor 115 and it is by snap that they are associated with each other.

  To allow this cooperation with the cover 114, the body 118 does not have chimneys such as the chimneys 29 of the motor 15 while it is provided at each end with a riser 147 extending respectively the wall 126 and the wall 127. as well as the adjacent ribs 124.

  The pins 131 (Figure 12) for assembling the body 118 and the plate 117 are located near the recesses 125, the holes 148 provided to receive them on the plate 117 being located near the ribs 135.

  The cover 114 has a front wall 150 (FIG. 12) and a flange provided, on the internal side, with a relatively wide latching lug 151, designed to cooperate with the end of the motor 115 on the side where the wall 126 is located. and has, opposite the tab 151, two latching tabs 152 and 153, provided to cooperate with the end of the motor 115 on the side where the wall 127 is located.

  On the outer side, the rim of the cover 114 is continuous a distance from the wall 150, then has means for snap-fitting on a frame-shaped support (not shown). The latching means comprise four latching lugs 154, two of which are situated opposite the tab 152 and the tab 153, respectively, on the same side, and the two other tabs on the same side opposite the tab. 151. In each corner is provided a counter-stop surface 155.

  In the assembled state, the motor 115 is held firmly in the cover 114 by the detent tabs 151, 152 and 153 which have at their end a catch on the extensions 147, as can be seen in the figure 11.

  In a variant not shown, the contact blades 112G and 112H are replaced by contact blades having at the level of the wafer 117 a return oriented parallel to the branch 137, this return being disposed on the outer side of the wafer 117, c ' that is to say the one facing the front wall of the lid 114.

  In other variants not shown, the cover 114 is replaced by a similar cover but the appearance of the front face 110 is different or by a frame-shaped support to which the motor 115 is associated in the factory once and for all , This support closely surrounding the motor 115 and being provided, after attachment to a recessed box or projecting, to receive a cover placed in front of the motor 115 and a trim plate framing this cover.

  In other variants not shown, the motor as 115 is shaped differently, with for example both chimneys and walls to cooperate with latching lugs so that it can be used both in a socket of the same type as plug 2 (front terminals) as in socket type 102 (rear terminals).
