Abstract

The teaching device intended for the fusion of metal wastes, in particular drink can rings, or for heating test tubes or other experimental material, comprising an electric furnace at low voltage (F), typically 24 Volts, of small size, heating a body with a vertical axis mounted with a removable stopper (B) made of refractory earth at its base. The fusion is achieved in a Pyrex glass test tube fixed on a mold (M) in a vertical position with a handle (P). The stopper (B) is at the base of the furnace and the fusion is limited to several minutes. During the fusion, the mold assembly and test tube is held in the vertical position using a support at the top of the furnace. The melted material is cooled by turning the mold and test tube by the handle so the mold and tube are resting on the support (S) during cooling.
