Abstract

Technical system of folding and fixing to obtain a bag with an adjustable size. The device of the invention presented here allows the user to have a single bag, the adjustable size of which adapts to all the needs of 'a day. Indeed, this bag, once unfolded, has the shape and function of a large tote, with an inside zipped pocket (A). When folded on itself, it becomes a small handbag, with a zipped compartment (A), and an open compartment (B). The transformation of the bag is done by a very simple and fast folding. and a fixing by two tabs ((F1 and F2) and 8 metal pressures (P1 to P8). This device can adapt to different shapes and sizes of bags, and be made in many materials. It is intended for the leather goods and luggage industry.

Description

 The present invention relates to a technical folding and hanging system for obtaining a modular bag.

 At certain times of the day, the user needs a small bag, at other times, he (she) would like to have a large model.

 This is why it happens that users leave with two bags in the morning.

The device of the invention presented here allows the user to have a single bag, whose modular size adapts to all the needs of a day:
Indeed, once unfolded (Figure 1), this bag has the shape and function of a large shopping bag (B) with an interior zipped pocket (A).

 When folded over on itself (Figure 2), it becomes a small bag, with a zipped compartment (A) and an open compartment (B).

 The transformation of the bag is done according to a very simple and rapid folding, illustrated in Figures 3 to 6. (these four figures represent the rear face of the bag).

 Figure 3 shows the bag in its large format, unfolded and open.

The two fixing lugs (F1 and F2) in extension of the front handle, allow the bag to be closed, by folding back onto the rear handle, and by fixing with two metal snaps (P7 on P6 and P8 on P 5).

 Figure 4 illustrates the first step of folding the bag: thanks to its bellows, it is flattened and the bottom folds down on the rear face.

 Figure 5 shows the second step of folding the bag: the body of the bag folds back on itself along a horizontal center line, and folds down on the rear face. We thus arrive at the bag in small size.

Figure 6 shows schematically the folded bag holding system:
By hooking the bottom of the bag to the rear handle with metal pressures (P3 on P5 and P4 on P6, Figure 5).

Then by the flap of the two fixing lugs (extension of the front handle) on the bottom of the front panel, by two new metal pressures (P8 on P2 and P 7 on Pl, Figure 5)
This type of bag can be made of coated fabric; padded and overstitched, with a rigid reinforced bottom. (See Figure 1). The handles are cut out with a cookie cutter in very thick leather (vegetable croupon type) and applied to the fabric bag coated with topstitching.

The front handle is wider than the rear handle. This extension, on each side of the bag, thus forms two tabs, provided with a metal pressure, which fold over on the rear face.

Each bag requires 8 metal presses (4 male presses and 4 female presses).

 This model could also be made of canvas, leather or any other flexible material that folds easily.

The handles presented here are considered in leather, for a better solidity of the product. But they could also be made in another material, as well as the fixing lugs (fabric, molded plastic, imitation leather ...)
This technical folding solution can be adapted to a whole collection of products, in different sizes and volumes, by varying the shape and size of the handles.
