Abstract

An analogue watch, with hands (2) (3), has a blank face (1). A transparent disc (4) marked as a normal clock face has a barrel (5) which allows it to be driven by the seconds gear train of the normal watch mechanism. The transparent disc and its barrel are fitted over the hour and second hands exactly as a normal sweep second hand would be and fulfils the same function. When the watch is working, an illusion of a clock face rotating at seconds speed is produced. The watch can be very easily used as a stopwatch for times equal to or less than one minute since the markings on the transparent disc will always be nearly adjacent to either the hands or to marks made on the watchcase (7) or face (8). ADVANTAGE - Watch is suitable for novelty market, but is also useful as limited stopwatch to take heart rates.
