Abstract

The invention relates to a device for cooking food by radiant heat from an integral heat source. It consists of a casing or oven body (3) containing a removable heat source (9), a vertical spit (7) guided at the top (6) and bottom (5) and turned by a turbine whose vanes (11) are driven by the current of rising hot air from the heat source, and the whole of this stands on an insulated tray (1) which collects the juices that run off. The device according to the invention is a completely independent cooking appliance needing no external source of energy.

Description

 The present invention relates to a vertical cooking device for poultry, meat roasts, fish or skewers fixed on a rotating axis (spit) by driving a turbine rotated by the flow1 of hot air from the integrated hearth .

 Such cooking has hitherto depended on a hearth outside the device and the rotation of the spindle of which is obtained either by unwinding a previously twisted wire or by an electric motor.

 The device according to the invention provides a simplification and an improvement in operation and autonomy by eliminating the need for an outdoor fireplace and the use of a non-permanent external energy source.

 In fact, it comprises an enveloping casing called the furnace body which receives a removable autonomous hearth and which comprises the rotational bearings of the spindle which in turn receives a finned turbine which captures the thermodynamic energy of the hearth to enter into rotation. In this way the spit1 guided by a bearing in the upper part and resting on a pivot in the lower part keeps a regular rotation without jerks whatever the weight or the shape of the roast, without requiring external energy.

 An ambase serving as a sauce harvester comprising isolation feet receives the oven body casing, of cylindrical shape for example.

 The components of the device are made of stainless steel sheet for easy maintenance and offering the best hygienic conditions.

The sauce harvester (1) constituting the base of the device, provided with 4 welded isolation feet (2) receiving the oven body casing (3) of cylindrical shape, made of ribbed stainless steel sheet comprising a loading opening front (4) on which are welded the lower spindle support (5) and the upper spindle support (6) made of flat steel which receive the spindle (7) itself receiving either two adjustable slider forks (8 ) or the discs on the skewer or rack basket carousel (fig. 3).

 The removable hearth (9) made of sheet steel of curved shape conforming to the cylindrical shape of the furnace casing is fixed by hooking inside the latter; it receives charcoal (it can be made, without modification of the device, by an electric or gas infrared ramp of the same shape) and ensures the cooking and the creation of a hot air flow ascending its handling is made by an insulating handle (10).

 The turbine (11) with fins made of stainless steel sheet has in its center a sheath bored to the diameter of the spindle and comprising two insulating handles (12) for its manipulation. Deposited on the upper part of the spindle, it rests on a locking pin thus ensuring the transmission of its rotation to the spindle.

 This rotation being ensured by the capture of the residual thermal energy of the hearth.

 The vertical position of the spindle is ensured in the upper part by a sliding bearing (13) and in the lower part by the tip of the spindle forming a pivot. Its handling is facilitated by a removable insulating handle (14).

 Figure 2 shows the device in front view and in profile section. It makes it possible to locate the assembly of the various components and their positioning in the device.

 FIG. 3 represents the device in elevation locating the position of the various components with respect to each other as well as the constituent elements of the skewer holder, namely the lower disc (15) comprising cells receiving the tips of the skewers and the upper disc ( 16) having holes receiving the upper part of the skewers. They are fixed to the spindle and immobilized thereon by clamping screws.

 Figure 4 shows the part of the device ensuring the maintenance of the spindle (7) in a vertical position between the lower support (5) and the upper support (6) by means of a lower fixed bearing (9) receiving the tip of the spindle (18) acting as a pivot and of a sliding bearing (13) being housed in a recess (16) machined in the upper support whose stroke is limited by the pins (15) and (17). The pin (15) receives in support the casing of the turbine and thus ensures the transmission of the rotation.

Claims (6)

 1) Device for cooking food characterized in that it comprises  An integrated system consisting of a furnace housing (3) receiving a sauce harvester (1), a removable hearth (9), a vertical spindle (7) rotated by a finned turbine (11) driven by the rising hot air flow from the fireplace.  2) Device according to claim 1 characterized in that it constitutes an autonomous cooking appliance requiring no external energy source.  3) Device according to claim 2 characterized by guiding the upper part (13) and lower part (19) of the spindle whose load is received on a lower support (5) by the tip of said spindle constituting a pivot (18 ).  4) Device according to claim 3 characterized with regard to the rotation of the spindle by means of a fin turbine (11) disposed in the upper part of the device and recovering the thermodynamic force emitted by the vertical hearth (9 ) excluding any recourse to external energy.  5) Device according to claim 4 characterized with regard to the possibility of replacing the charcoal grill hearth with an electric or gas hearth or any form of heat energy emission.  6) Device according to claim 1 in that the spit can receive a skewer carousel or a grill basket or any other cooking accessory.
