Abstract

Extrusion appts., principally for foodstuff pastes, employs a conventional extrusion screw and barrel assembly into which feed is forced by means of an independent rotor rotating in the opposite direction to the extruder screw. Alternatively two contra-rotating extruder screws may be used with two contra-rotating feeding rotors. In order to feed material into the extruder screws, the feed rotors and extruder screws rotate in opposite direction. Used in the extrusion of pastes in the foodstuffs processing industry.
