Abstract

An implant, e.g. for a connection to the urethra, consists of a fluid passage and an anchorage to secure a biological fixture to the human tissue. The anchorage is a flange with a set of holes which is surrounded by implantation netting. Both the anchorage and the implantation netting are made of pyrolysis carbon on a graphite substrate or of vitreous carbon; their outside surfaces are coated with collagen to foster the adhesion of tissue to them. This ensures a satisfactory ingrown connection of the implant.

Description

L'invention concerne un dispositif à implanter. The invention relates to a device to be implanted.

There are many cases in which it is necessary to perform an enterostomy on a patient. An ostomy consists of the mouthing of an internal canal. Common conduits commonly requiring delivery include the ileum, colon, ureter and bladder. Until now, enterostomies have been performed by sectioning the duct to be delivered, then by suturing the wall of the duct to an opening that has been formed on the surface of the body. The opening is normally formed on the abdomen. In general, the wall of the duct and the tissues and subcutaneous muscles surrounding the opening grow together to fix the duct permanently to the surface of the body. After healing, a recopient is fixed to the surface of the skin. The container has the function of receiving the excrement discharged from the duct.

The invention will be described in more detail with reference to the accompanying drawings by way of non-limiting examples and in which
Figure 1 is a longitudinal section of the device to be implanted according to the invention
Figure 2 is a longitudinal section of another embodiment of the device to be implanted according to the invention; and
Figure 3 is a longitudinal section of another embodiment of the device to be implanted according to the invention.

FIG. 1 shows generally in 1 a device to be implanted which comprises a channel indicated generally in 3 and anchoring means intended to carry out a biological anchoring. The anchoring means 15 preferably comprise several openings 39 in which the growth of fibro-vascular tissues 31 is encouraged. The channel 3 comprises an inlet section 5 starting from an inlet 9 and ending in an outlet il the central axis 35 passing through the center of the inlet 9 of the channel is inclined relative to the central axis 33 passing through the center of the outlet 11 of the channel (the inclination being indicated by the angle xl in FIG. 1 ) an angle of about 43 ~; 7 75 pccurrently install the device to be implanted 1 at a uretero 13 without obstructing or knotting the ureter 13 and thus reducing or thus erecting the flow therein.

In Figure 1.1 implant device 1 is shown as being connected to a ureter 13 from a kidney 21. The implant device is shown as passing through the skin 29, the fatty layer 27, the fascia 25 and the straight muscle 23 to be attached to the ureter 13.

The device 1 to be implanted also comprises an annular flange 17 between which and 11 anchoring element 15 is formed an annular recess 37. The latter allows the attachment of an element 19 for vascular grafting to the device 1 to be implanted, for example by means a suture 41.

The material 19 for vascular graft consists, for example, of "Dacron", which is a polyester fiber produced by the firm E.I. du Pont de Nemours and CO. In a preferred embodiment, at least part of the graft material of which the connector 1 is made is coated with collagen.

FIG. 2 represents an embodiment which comprises two input sections Sa and 5b starting from inputs 9a and 9b, respectively. The central axes 35a and 35b passing through the centers of the inputs 9a and 9b1 respectively, each form an angle (identified by the letters y relative to the central axis 33 passing through the outlet 11 shown in FIG. 2) of between approximately 45 and 750. This embodiment allows a single implantable device 1 to be connected to the two ureters 13.

FIG. 3 represents an embodiment of the device to be implanted according to the invention in which the channel 3 can rotate relative to the anchoring element 15. Preferably, the anchoring element 15 is fixed around the channel 3 by means of an assembly with male element 42 and female element 43. The rotation of the channel 3 allows a connection to the ureter 13 without closing or knotting the latter and thus throttling or preventing the flow taking place therein.

The channel 3 and the anchoring element 15 can be made of pyrolytic carbon applied to a graphite substrate or else of glassy carbon.

It goes without saying that numerous modifications can be made to the device described and shown without departing from the scope of the invention.
