Abstract

The silage cutter and distributor with connections (2,3) for mounting on a tractor, has a rectangular structure with a single continuously operated cutting belt (9). This travels around pulleys (12,13,14) at three corners of the frame, so as to travel around an inverted L shaped path. The belt has parallel angle shaped cutters (11) mounted across it, each with a line of cutting teeth along its vertical edge. The silage is forced against the vertical part of the cutting belt by a vertical plate (21) which is pushed by a piston and cylinder (23). This plate is connected to folding arms (22), the upper arms carrying sheets (24) which convey the cut material rearwards to a discharge duct (25) which slopes downwards.
