Abstract

Preparation of insecticidal perches for cage birds, by incorporating an organic insecticide in a plastic material, from where it is released at the surface by migration, a property widely used in insecticidal collars for dogs. The perch is made: - either with the plastic itself, made rigid by a metal rod; - or by introducing an insecticidal plastic strip into a perch which is hollow and pierced with holes; - or by applying, to an ordinary perch, a layer of latex made of plastic material containing the insecticide. Various insecticides can be used; they must be effective against the targeted parasites and without endangering the birds. The invention mentions, in a non-limiting way, carbaryl, diazinon, dichlorvos and, as plastic materials, PVC and the acrylic resins.
