Abstract
A flat solar heat collector consists of two parallel profile sheets with a distance of 4mm(1mm) between them. The distance is maintained by dimples, produced in one of the sheets during the rolling operations. Both metal sheets are treated on the outside to absorb solar radiation and are bright on the inside; they rest on layers of heat insulation. A perforated horizontal pipe near the roof top admits water which is heated as it flows in a thin film down to a collecting trough near the roof gutter and is taken to a storage tank. This requires no glass panes which reflect much of the radiation and may be damaged by supersonic aircraft shock waves.
