Abstract
Parent patent described a discharge electrode made of material which resists burning off and also functions as a suppressor. At least the part of the electrode at the sparkover. consists of a length-dependent resistor with a max. value. In this addn. the resistor material consists of a mixt. of a resistor ceramic (I) and a finely dispersed pahse (II) with metallic conductivity, esp. a metal powder which is Pt and/or Pd and/or Ni; or a mixt. of Pd and Ag. Ceramic (I) is pref. a mixt. contb. in mole %:- 78% Al2O3, 17% Cu2O, 3% Cr2O3, plus 0.2 wt.% SiO2, pressed at 1000 bars and sintered 2 h at 1250 degrees C. The electrode pref. contains 0.01-20 vol.% of (II). The present invention uses (II) to dope (I), thus greatly simplifying the mfr. of the electrode in comparison to the parent patent.
