Abstract

The sealing discs are made from thin cork or plastics foam with a layer of paper on one side. They are stored in bulk in a vibratory hopper and roll down an inclined chute, each disc being turned on edge. The cork-paper layering forms an edge taper (3)when stamping out the discs. The chute widens out (8) at its base and, depending on the paperside, each disc deviates to one side or the other. They then enter one of two secondary chutes (5, 6) and are turned (9) to lie flat (10).
