Abstract

The grinder is the non-centred rectification of cylindrical pieces (P1). It has two grinding wheels (4, 23) in a common horizontal plane revolving about vertical axes. This aids the removal of finished work, together with the grinding of non-symmetrical work. One or both wheels is mounted on a moving slide, providing for adjustment to suit the dia. of the piece. One wheel rotates (4) the piece while the other (23) cuts. The piece is contacted by the wheels on diametrically opposed sectors in a vertical plane contg. the wheel axes. It is positioned vertically by a gauge block (31) and an opposed adjustable stop (32). The wheels are mounted on slides(3, 22) displaced by handwheels (9, 27), the drive wheel has an automatic ram-actuated advance mechanism (13-15).
