Abstract

The bare plaque or medallion is first coated with enamel which is then fired. A second coat of a different colour is next applied and then dried but allowed to remain soft. The plaque is then inscribed as required so that the colour of the base coating is revealed. The plaque is then finished by a second firing. The first two stages can be carried out on a mass production basis with the final stage being done by a craftsman to the requirements of individual customers.
