Abstract

The artificial hand comprises a socket (B) to fit over the stump, simulating the wrist and containing a mobile pivoted plate. This plate (c) is spring loaded (I) against a pressure bag (S) which can be inflated by an external bulb (T). The plate also has the jointed artificial fingers (O) attached to its upper part whith a cable running through selected fingers to increase their flexibility in action. the thumb (Q) is separately pivoted but its cable (L) is operated by the same mobile plate. The cables are threaded to permit individual adjustment of their action.
