Abstract
An enclosure, confining a water-cooled reactor comprising a vessel contg. the core constituted by fuel assemblages and heat exchangers and circulation pumps, comprises a floor, a lateral wall and a ceiling and internal structures. The internal structures include a vertical central column fixed on the floor and supporting the vessel, a horizontal floor supporting a handling pond, and a number of radiating partitions defining compartments in the space bounded by the column, the ceiling and the floor. One of these compartments serves as a pond for storing fuel assemblages and a reservoir for borated water. A conduit passes throught the horizontal floor forming a vertical passage between the handling pond and the compartment. The compartment fulfils the function of temporary storage pond for fuel assemblages during the operation of charging and discharging the core and the function of a reservoir of borated water. Space is saved and safety is increased.
