Abstract

The device comprises at least two driven frictional spaced elements, a moveable framework supporting sets of freely rotating elements on its periphery and a knitting spreader adjacent to the framework. The framework may be introduced into the knitted fabric, and provides an opening for the fabric on its circumference. The framework may be positioned and bolted into place between the driven elements, and each set of freely rotating elements rest on the driven elements to define a gripping zone for the fabric. The device provides a method of unravelling tubular knitted fabric without requiring careful supervision by an operator.
