Abstract

The clamp comprises an outer case (1), its lower end receiving a pair of pivoted jaws (3, 4) closing centrally. The upper end of each jaw has a link (7, 8) pivoting on a common vertical pin (11), spring loaded (13) upwards and passing into an upper compartment. The compartment contains a horizontally acting slide (16) with two recesses. One (18) is shallow and compresses the spring to hold the jaws closed, a deeper adjacent recess (19) releases the spring and opens the jaws when the slide is pulled sideways by a manually operated knob (20). Alternatively, a motorised cam (25) pushes (24) the slide sideways.
