Abstract

Vincamine derivs. of formula (I) and their acid addn. salts are new. In (I) R1 is 2-6C opt. branched alkyl; R2 and R3 together form an additional C-C bond, or are OH and H respectively, R4 and R5 together form an additional C-C bond, or are H). (B) Alkyl vincadifformate derivs. of formula (II) are also new (the 14(15) bond is single or double; X is H or Br). (I) have antianoxic and psychotropic activity. They are useful for treating vigilance disorders (esp. due to cerebrovascular accidents and geriatric cerebral sclerosis), absences due to cranial trauma, depression, cardiocirculatory and cerebrovascular disorders. They can also be used in ophthalmology and otorhinolaryngology, esp. for treating cochleovestibular disorders. They have higher antianoxic activity than vincamine. and lower toxicity than the corresp. cpds. where R1 is Me. Daily dose is 1-300mg orally or parenterally. (II) are intermediates for (I) and also for other alkaloids.
