Abstract

An appts. for isothermal heat storage allows heat to be transferred through a wall placed between a material changing its state and a liq. heat transfer medium, pref. having equal densities. The material changing its state has a large heat of transformation and acts as a storage medium. The material changing state is contd. in elementary enclosures and the elementary enclosures are submerged in the heat transfer medium. They are pref. grouped in units constituted by the joining face to face of two sheets of plastic material placed vertically welded together along horizontal weld lines defining compartments serving as the enclosures. The heat of transformation of a polyhydrated salt or of water and ice is used in combination with a heat transfer agent to store heat or take heat from storage in heating or cooling. The invention avoids difficulties of existing devices including : redn. of heat transfer coefft. because of setting near the exchange wall of the material changing its state; migration by density difference in the material changing state.
