Abstract

The particle sorting appts. partic. suitable for recovery metal and plastics from comminuted insulated electric cable, can also be used for sorting other materials in bulk. The particles fall from a chute onto a vibratory table with a porous surface. The table slopes at an angle between 0 and 20 degrees and air is blow through the porous surface from a chamber below. A certain distance from the upper end is a baffle with a nearly vertical face and another face nearly parallel to the surface. This baffle tends to split the air current into two opposite directions, assisting the sepn. of the material causing it to pass to the two opposite ends of the surface depending on its density.
