Abstract

The beet lifting machine has two tined wheels rotating about vertical axes, supported at low level, rotating in opposite directions. These discharge onto a conveyor with its tined collector strand travelling vertically upwards to discharge onto a container at high level. The frame carrying the vertical conveyor has two arms shaped as sideways U members, and the chain travels tangentially past the rotating tined wheels. The vertical conveying path is enclosed by a guide sheet which can move to control the operation. The chassis carrying the tined wheels can be altered to cancel the extracting action, using only the conveyor.
