Abstract
Steam dealkylation is effected at 300-600 degrees C, a pressure of 1-20 atm., a LHSV of 0.1-10 and an H2O/feed molar ratio of 1-20. The feed is circulated through >=1 mobile-bed reaction zone in which the catalyst moves progressively from top-to-bottom. The improvement comprises progressively withdrawing catalyst from the bottom of the reaction zone, passing it to a regeneration zone, and progressively recycling the regenerated catalyst to the top of the reaction zone in such a way that a high and constant activity level is maintained at each point in the reaction zone. The process can be operated continuously for long periods without the loss of conversion and yield associated with fixed-bed operation.
