Abstract
The water vapour contained in the gases is condensed out in two successive cooling stages using an auxiliary fluid in heat exchangers. The hot fluid produced in the first cooling stage is used to warm up the gases before their reuse or discharge to atmosphere. Pref. additional hot air is added to the gases after treatment, this air being heated either by heat exchange with the auxiliary fluid after it has been used to heat the gases again, or by using the air as the cooling fluid in the second stage heat exchanger. Dust and any liq. particles can be removed from the gases before reheating by, e.g. electrostatic precipitation. A heat pump may be used to transfer heat to and from different parts of the auxiliary fluid circuit, or even from the gases direct. The system can be used with industrial waste gases such as combustion gases, enabling their discharge to the atmosphere without the formation of clouds of water droplets and dust. The consumptions of auxiliary fluid and of energy are much smaller than with conventional systems.
