IT CONTAINS ABOUT 25 TO ABOUT 50 BY WEIGHT OF ZIRCONIA, ABOUT 49.2 TO ABOUT 74.2 BY WEIGHT OF ALUMINA, AND ABOUT 0.8 TO ABOUT 2.5 BY WEIGHT OF SILICA. THE PREPARATION PROCESS INCLUDES MELTING A MIXTURE OF BAUXITE AND ZIRCONIA, COOLING THE MOLTEN MIXTURE TO SOLIDIFY THE COMPOSITION IN THREE MINUTES, PREFERABLY IN ONE MINUTE, AND SPRAYING THE RESULTING COOLED MIXTURE TO FORM PARTICULATE FORMULAS. THE INVENTION APPLIES IN PARTICULAR TO THE PRODUCTION OF ABRASIVE WHEELS.
