Abstract

The plate is used for surgically repairing a fracture of the lower tibia and comprises a longitudinal section (1) with an enlarged heat (2) at one end. The plate is curved to fit the bone and has its edges (1a) thinned to fit. The plate is fitted by means of countersunk head screws passing through countersunk holes (8) arranged in staggered rows along the plate. Three holes are arranged triangularly at the enlarged end and a notch (6) provides for an angled screw. A slot (7) at the top locates a brace for compressing the fracture.
