Abstract

Longitudinal sections of the pressed article serve as fuel. The pressing cylinder which determines the cross-sectional shape of the pressed article has at least one longitudinal rib, so that the pressed article then also receives at least one longitudinal channel, formed by the said rib. The said longitudinal channel or longitudinal channels may serve different purposes. They may accommodate easily ignitable material, such as paraffin. The surface area of the pressed article is also increased by the longitudinal channel and burns more easily for this reason alone. A plurality of longitudinal channels which extend into the vicinity of the longitudinal axis of the pressed article may also be used to form predetermined breaking points on the pressed article, the previously cylindrical shape of which can therefore be easily divided into individual logs. The liquid paraffin can also penetrate through the surfaces of the longitudinal channel deep into the material making up the rest of the pressed article.
