Abstract

A thin, heat sealing prod. comprises a layer consisting of 1 film to non-fibrous, high m. pt. elastic material covered on 1 face by a fine layer of heat sealing material. The prod. can also have a detachable support material, pref. paper, on an external surface of the elastic layer or the heat sealing layer. The elastic, heat sealing prod. can be prepd. by first coating a rigid, semi-rigid, or flexible support material with a compsn. (X) which gives, on drying, an elastic, high m. pt. film. The compsn. is dried by heating, and an adhesive which melts on heating is then applied over the film. The support is then removed. Alternatively, the prod. can be prepd. by first coating the support material with the adhesive, then coating the adhesive layer with the compsn. (X). The prod. is dried by heating to form the elastic film, and the support material is then removed. The heat sealing prod. can be applied to textiles, partic clothing, to reinforce them or to make them impervious. The elastic layer is partic. of polyurethane.
