Abstract

The diving suit is made from neoprene and has a waterproof skin which also provides thermal insulation. The suit is permeable to infra-red rays emitted by the body and a second layer of material which is impervious to infra-red rays is applied to this skin. The infra-red heat is reflected by the material. The inside of the suit may be lined with normal material and may also be dyed any colour. The lining does not interfere with the shaping of the suit.

Description

 The object of the invention relates to a lining device forming a thermal barrier for diving clothing.

 It is intended to conserve human heat inside the vast space by preventing the infrared radiation from the submerged body from being lost.

 In the devices used to date, both in diving suits and for scuba diving clothing, the insulation from the cold was obtained by the simple wall made of glittering material sometimes lined with a fabric facing which n did not avoid the loss of infrared radiation.

 The device according to the invention eliminates these drawbacks and allows, by a simple coating, such as an adherent film, on the internal wall, to reflect the infrared radiation.

 I1 is constituted by a film, such as a pelli cular coating covering the entire internal facing of the diving vertically preventing, by reflecting it inwards, from losing the infrared radiation, the agent being applied by bonding, spraying, painting or pigmentation.

 The neoprene suit, for example in FIG. 1, has an impermeable and isothermal wall i, but its structure is permeable to infrared radiation emitted by the body. A film or a film of reflective substance forming a barrier with infrared rays is spread over its internal facing 2 but does not absorb them.

 This radiation will therefore be distributed between the garment and the skin and will prevent a drop in temperature.

 It is possible to cover this film or this film with a coating 4 which insulates the skin which can be as well in neoprene as in any tissue absorbing for example perspiration or maintaining body temperature.

 Finally, it is possible to interpose the reflective film 3, FIG. 3, between the external 5 and internal 6 facings.

 This film in any substance co @ n reflecting electromagnetic radiation whose wavelength is between the limit of the visible spectrum (0.8 micron) and the on- millimeters largely prevent the loss of radiation emitted by the human body. The insulating capacity of the suit then lies in very large proportions.

 This new application for the diving suit and underwater clothing in general has a maximum of useful effects, because it allows with a reduced wall thickness to considerably increase the thermal effects.

 However, the forms, dimensions and arrangements for rendering mente oonaa, moreover, the reflecting agents and substances used may vary within the limit of the equivalents without thereby changing the general conception of the invention which has just been described.

 10 Lining device forming a thermal barrier for diving clothing intended by its reflective effect to conserve inside the clothing the infrared radiation emitted by the body of the user characterized by the covering of the internal facing of the diving suit by a reflecting agent in the form of a film or film applied by spraying, painting or pigmentation bonding.  20 Device according to claim 1, characterized in that the film reflecting the infrared radiation emitted by the body of the user is placed on the inner wall and covered by an "internal contact skin".  30 Device according to claim 1, characterized in that the film is sandwiched between the internal and external faces of the garment  40 Device according to claim 1, characterized in that the reflecting agent is incorporated in the mass.
