Abstract

The container has an outside flange (A) which has a lower edge (8) doubling back on itself to form a loop (5) with the outer edge near the flange. The lid is made of plastics material and has an outer skirt with a lower collar (9) which fits over the flange on the container. The lid also fits inside the container and has an elastic sealant (7) at the bottom of the outer collar. The edge of the lid forces the loop inwards so compressing the sealant between the lid and the container.
