Abstract

A topographic marker indicates the position of installations buried in the ground such as gas or water pipes or electric cables. The marker is of synthetic material of suitable colour to reduce installation and maintenance costs. A truncated pyramid shaped marker (1') with a triangular base is manufactured from polyester material reinforced by glass fibres and containing a suitable colouring pigment. A protective coating protects the colour against ultraviolet light. The marker is fixed to the ground by a stake (21) which is pushed into the ground. A thrust plate (22) limits the length in the ground while a second plate (23) at the top of the stake aids the fixing and is retained by rivets. A stump.
