Abstract

A presence detector on a conveyor or distribution system detects presence of articles by the emission of a jet of air. This ensures that moving articles are supplied for a printing machine. Bottles (11) are carried on a conveyor (10) to a filling station after falling down a vertical chute (12). A presence detector (13) stops the supply when the chute is blocked. The detector comprises an emitter (14) which ejects a flow of air from a nozzle supplied from a compressed air source. The air jet passes through the path of the bottles to a receiver (15) in which a passage.
